It is fair to say that I am most grounded in the great outdoors. As a teenager I enjoyed tending the garden at our suburban home in Portland, Oregon. This need to always have my hands and feet in the earth inspired me to own and operate a successful small landscaping company, CREATE-A-SCAPE, from 1983 – 1987. During this time I received a degree of Applied Science in Landscape Technology and Design from Portland Community College in 1984 and Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Oregon in 1987.

From 1987 – 1989 I had the pleasure of working for WH Pacific, a Landscape Architecture and Civil Engineering firm in Portland, Oregon. However, it was not very long before marriage and an adventuring spirit called to me.

I spent the next two years as a Peace Corp Volunteer on the Island of Grenada in the West Indies. I had the good fortune to work in the newly developed National Park’s Unit, within the Ministry of Agriculture.

Upon returning to the United States in 1991, we selectively re-assimilated with a season as interns at Natural Harvest Farm, an organic CSA farm in Canby, Oregon, Volunteered with Oregon Tilth and People’s Food COOP, and started a family.

In 1993 I started FERTILE GROUND, providing landscape design and contracting services to homeowners and small businesses. In 2002 I started re-envisioning FERTILE GROUND in order to offer a deeper connection with people and place…..to reclaim a sense of sacred space. My life’s journey has lead me to the labyrinth as an inclusive expression, in its varied form and function, of the uniquely creative path to discovering one’s center.

In 2005 I was licensed as a Landscape Architect. I offer landscape architectural services specializing in labyrinth design and construction as a vehicle for transformation….designing gardens that invite people to discover their sacred ground.
