Diggin’ up New Ground…..reinventing
FERTILE GROUND

RATIONALE Dec. 2002

How an individual chooses to spend their time says a lot about what they value. We spend much of our time “working” in order to sustain or advance our desired lifestyle. Turning 40 has become the impetus to ask the questions: How will I spend the rest of my life? and Why?

As owner and operator of FERTILE GROUND, a successful small landscape design and contracting company for the last 10 years, I find myself at a crossroads. As much as I enjoy the design and implementation of “landscapes” and “landscape structures,” it is not enough. Gleanings from my life experiences have challenged me to answer a call from within.

The new FERTILE GROUND will provide services which offer ways to nurture people and celebrate sacred space at the same time. As landscape designer and contractor I will specialize in creating both public and private Labyrinths. The resurgence of the labyrinth speaks to the yearnings of a people trying to find inner quiet, health and healing, direction and hope, in a largely dysfunctional world.

The work I plan to do in the future must feed my soul and offer nourishment to those seeking soul food as well.
